The Leiwen cabinet is a functional storage space with an aesthetic design. Its appearance epitomises the monolithic and natural wooden surfaces. Their symmetry creates stability, with certain angles showing a deceptive illusion of levitation. The composition of Leiwen's design elements is arranged in the manner of Chinese characters. This is echoed by an accent façade of metal sheeting, stacked harmonically.
By researching Stone Age art, we have interpreted the zigzag ornamentation of ancient China's "thunder patterns" (lei wen). The pleating created in steel gives the cabinet visual texture and stability. However, its main purpose remains the same as the people who painted Neolithic pottery three thousand years ago - out of a desire to decorate surfaces and surround themselves with beautiful things.
