Factory in the backyard

In the summer of 2012, Sergey Lvov, a student at the Kharkov Academy of Design and Arts, sketched out a business plan for furniture restoration on a piece of wallpaper, and his brother Alexander also got involved in the work. In the evening of the same day, a message appeared on the city notice boards: “we will buy old furniture.” We purchased and accepted interesting specimens as gifts, repaired them in our free time, and then turned them into modern art. The apogee of this period of creativity was the exhibition and sale of the same name Levantin Redesign work in the local history museum. The exhibition included furniture, table clocks, paintings and interior decor. Then the accent furniture was placed in the first co-working space in Kharkov, “New Place”. Then we began to develop our own products, but the restoration determined the basic principle of our work: conscious creation, - enriching the world with conscious products, and being proud of each individual unit. When thinking about the name, we wanted to identify ourselves with the objects, so we chose something close to our hearts: Levantin is a modified surname Lvov, our childhood nicknames. And the horns on the logo are a detail of the facade of our first restored wardrobe. They became a reminder of where we started, and how many branches still lie ahead.

Levantine forms to the masses

After two years of craft work, we decided to implement our own design, starting with pure engineering forms: geometric compositions of symmetrical lines. For the festival of object design "Vodoparad 2014" we created the NUSHABA sink. Having been shortlisted for the competition, we produced a prototype in which a polygonal washbasin, like a frame on a ring, was framed by a support made of a steel rod. These works were noticed by the foreign press and received the first design awards. So our portfolio grew with bold ideas for modern furniture, but it was negatively assessed by local factories that did not need too elaborate products. However, we did not lose our enthusiasm and decided to start our own production, which gathered around us a team of enthusiasts and independent artisans. Now our products are described by the concept of Wow in your space - these are visually catchy authentic items that are in tune with the modern lifestyle. We develop memorable products that we are passionate about and confident in. And we prove that they are the fruit of the labor of passionate people. Each product was created with soul, by the hands of craftsmen who respect their work and proudly demonstrate the result!

Love of corporate clients

We are aimed at developing the local Ukrainian market for design objects, and have found like-minded people among partner furniture showrooms in Ukraine. They share our approaches and recommend Levantin design products to their clients. In addition, we receive export requests for the packaging of creative objects. Such as offices and headquarters of IT companies, a skyscraper hotel in Singapore, a coffee shop in Qatar, an art school in Austria. We have managed to send our products to 19 countries already. We are also open to cooperation and communicate with furniture stores, showrooms and agents in Poland, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, France and the USA. An important part of our clients are creative corporate brands and the HoReCa segment, who turn to us not just for furniture, but also for the accompanying emotions: to be in trend, to receive an exclusive product with artistic value. And of course, we comply with all the basic requirements for furniture: quality, ergonomics, environmental friendliness, warranty, convenient service. We also work for the retail segment; our customers are modern residents of large cities with an active lifestyle. They are not going to buy completely rational and tasteless items. They need things that are in tune with the urban lifestyle, as well as made with high quality, fashionable and fresh. We are always glad when famous people give us preference, often trendsetters and influencers who support interesting domestic products and services.

Design for foreign factories

We annually exhibit at Ukrainian exhibitions, and also receive requests to participate in international exhibitions and festivals in collective stands of Ukrainian design and the stands of our partners. We were able to take part in Maison&Objet, Paris Design Week, Stockholm Furniture Fair, High Point Market, Barcelona Design Week, Warsaw Home and others. By showing the world our vision of surrounding objects, we proved that it can be original, but at the same time in demand. Having established ourselves as a multidisciplinary object design studio, we began working with manufacturers around the world, including the Greek manufacturer of door fittings Convex, lighting factories NB light, Pikart, Atmolight, furniture manufacturers Darts, Favoris, J-mirror, MZPA, Nobonobo, ARTU. In our works we realize our own artistic concept, which crystallizes in interaction with the manufacturer. Limitations are one of the tools of creation. It is impossible to create the best chair without context. A technical specification with purpose, materials, and production processes is always required. From this collaboration, passing through the funnel of these limitations, a beautiful new thing is born.

Work during the war

In the first months of the war, we were forced to stop the work of our workshop in Kharkov. We converted an industrial space in the city centre into a shelter for several dozen people and their pets. In August 2022, we were able to re-establish operations, start shipping finished orders and accept new applications. We are very grateful to all the advocates and customers who supported us and waited for us to resume operations.
